How to submit Cargo Reporting to Customs AU

Modified on Mon, 21 Oct at 3:27 PM

Once all shipment details have been accurately entered, a Cargo report can be sent to Customs.

Sea Cargo Reporting covers the initial manifest report, Under bond Movements, and Outturn reports.

Sea Cargo Reporting (Forwarder & Depot) is integrated with the Import Sea module. You do not need to transfer the data between the modules.

The reporting is generally done at the Consol level for all jobs on the shipment but can also be done at the job level if required.

1. Before sending a sea cargo report, check that the mandatory aqua coloured fields have been completed in the Consol and jobs:

  • Consol Main screen
  • Consol Containers screen

  • Job General screen
  • Job Packages screen
  • Job Address screen

If any details need to be changed, do that before you send the report to Customs.

2. For some reports, such as the outturn reporting (if your organisation performs this task), you will need to complete the outturn results in the jobs before sending the report from the Consol.

3. From Consol, the SCA screen  allows you to send different types of reports to Customs.

  • If you are responsible for the Underbond movements, you can send an Underbond movement request from the Underbond section.
  • If you operate a depot, you can send the cargo arrival and unpack reports for the shipment from the Depot section.

4. All the required fields are complete now and you are ready to send the report.

The Not Successful checkbox is ticked by default. This will mean the report will only be sent for those jobs on the shipment that have an unsuccessful status.

5. The SCA History screen will display the list of messages sent out to Customs in the top Send Message panel. The message line will be displayed in the left panel.

You will be able to see details such as who sent the message, the message type, and the date and time the message was sent. The panel on the right will show a summary of the message sent.

6. The messages received from Customs will be displayed in the bottom half of the screen. The date and time the message was received will be displayed on the left and the message will be in the panel to the right.

7. If you have sent a cargo report to Customs, but you need to change any of the following key fields, do not change the fields and send a replacement without first withdrawing the original message with the incorrect data.

Key identifier items: Vessel identifier, Voyage number, Container number, Ocean Bill of Lading,House Bill of Lading.

To withdraw the report for the Consol:

  • Click on the Withdraw checkbox on the SCA tab.
  • Untick the Not Successful checkbox.
  • Click on the SCA for Consol button.

  • You will receive confirmation that the withdrawal message has been sent. You will be able to see the message in the SCA History tab.
  • Wait for Customs to respond to your withdrawal message.
  • Then change the data in shipment and resend a new cargo report. Remember to untick the Withdraw checkbox before sending.

When you need to withdraw the cargo report for only one, or a few jobs, but not the whole Consol, you can send the withdrawal message from the job and it will only withdraw that specific job.
